Legal Holidays – According to MS Law, the following holidays are legal holidays and are not considered as working days (“Working day” shall mean a twenty-four-hour period commencing from the time the locate request is processed or entered into the system by Mississippi 811, Inc., excluding Saturdays, Sundays and legal holidays). - Robert E Lee/Dr. Martin Luther King Jr Birthday
- President’s Day/Washington’s Birthday Day
- Confederate Memorial Day
- Memorial Day
- Juneteenth Day
- Independence Day
- Labor Day
- Columbus Day
- Veterans Day
- Thanksgiving Day
- Christmas Day
The day after Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve are not legal holidays and are considered as working days according to One Call law.
Just a Reminder from Mississippi 811
Mississippi 811, Inc. will recognize all Federal and State holidays on the date which they occur or on the day on which they are customarily observed. Customarily Federal and State holidays which occur on a Saturday are observed on the preceding Friday, while holidays which occur on Sunday are observed on the following Monday. Local holidays will not be considered for determining the due date for line location to be completed. Additional holidays could, from time to time, be declared by the Federal or State governments by decree. These holidays will also be recognized.
