Service Area Database Management

The Service Area Editor (SAE) is a feature of the MS811 Web Portal that allows members to create, maintain and edit as well as upload or download their underground service area information.

Accessing the Service Area Editor

Click on the “Sign-Up” button above to sign up for an SAE account. Please note that all SAE users are required to sign a service area agreement that contains important information regarding service area database responsibilities. The agreement can be downloaded by clicking on the “Service Area Agreement” link below. Please submit agreements to Amy Williams.

Once we receive your signed agreement, we will set up your account and send you an email confirmation containing your account information.
If you already have an account, click on the “Service Area Editor” button above to log into SAE.

Service Area Editor Requirement Changes

All SAE users are now required to sign a Service Area Agreement.  This agreement contains important information about a member’s responsibilities regarding their service area database. The agreement can be downloaded by clicking on the “Service Area Agreement” link below. Please submit agreements to Amy Williams.

All files uploaded to SAE must have coordinates in the EPSG:4326 (WGS84) projection. Shapefiles that are not in the required projection cause a 5 ft – 6 ft shift in horizontal accuracy. The system will not alert the user of the error and cannot be programmed to do so. This is why we will no longer be allowing the upload of shapefiles and will begin requiring geoJSON files starting April 25th, 2023. We apologize for any inconvenience this change may cause. We made this choice in the best interest of protecting our members’ facilities.

If you think that you may have uploaded shapefiles to SAE that were not in the required projection, we suggest that you update your service area as soon as possible. Especially if you have a small service area buffer. A 5 ft – 6 ft shift may not affect a service area with a 100 ft buffer; however, a 10 ft buffer would be affected.

If you need assistance with getting your data in the required projection, correct file format, or other questions, please contact Amy Williams at (601) 368-1160 or Haley Feather at (601) 368-1150.
